The SOARES DE ANDRADE lawfirm started its story in 1926 when our patron, Dra. Maria Rita Soares de Andrade, graduated from Faculdade da Bahia (the first female lawyer in Bahia and the third in Brazil). After graduating, however, she returns to Sergipe where she becomes Attorney General.

In 1967, Dr. Maria Rita is nomenated the first female Federal Judge by the President. She is also one of the responsible people for the foundation of AJUF (Federal Judge Association) having been chosen vice-president teacher of Universidade do Brasil for two times. Due to retirement (she became 70), she starts to dedicate herself to work as a lawyer with. Dr. José Pinto Soares de Andrade who kept in the partnership with Dr. Maria Rita until her death in 1998.
